Newsletter: South Burnett Autumn 2024

Welcome to our inaugural South Burnett newsletter!

We’re very excited about the South Burnett Pathways to Performance Theatre Program that we are establishing in Kingaroy, as a regional base.

The development of the program was initiated by Kingaroy local,  Cherie Watson. Cherie, a passionate emerging Queensland theatre and film actor had been travelling back and forth, once a week, to participate in our Brisbane program.

She asked if we could establish an outreach program in South Burnett so people with disability interested in accessing the performing arts can have the same public performing opportunities and broad performance exposure as us ‘city dwellers’.

We are beginning our journey to provide those opportunities in South Burnett. We’re committed to supporting this amazing project but we need your help to make it happen and most importantly – grow until it becomes yours.

Our sincere thanks go out to those South Burnett business, community members and Brisbane Friends of Blue Roo who are helping with our mission to support people with disability in South Burnett to Access, Learn and eventually Lead inclusive performing arts productions and performances as their skills grow, With thanks to our newest South Burnett Friends of Blue Roo.:

It’s an ambitious goal, but it can be done if your local communities believe it is worthwhile. We may be ‘city dwellers’ as Cherie calls us, but we believe that the hearts of our Queensland communities beat stronger when people with disability shine brightly on the public stage by showcasing their creative abilities.to communities.

We can change individual lives, lessen social isolation and change common misconceptions about ability, but we need your support..

People with disability in every Queensland community deserve it ALL (access to opportunities, learning and skills and leadership development) in the Queensland performing arts. sector.

Welcome to the Blue Roo Theatre Company’s Autumn 2024 newsletter.

Blue Roo Theatre Company Inc. is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland, part of the Department of Treaty, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, Communities, and the Arts.
