“A Small Day Out” – The Latest Blue Roo Production

Are you looking for a unique and heart-warming theatre experience filled with laughter, music, and mayhem? Then don’t miss this latest adventure devised by Sarah Jackson and the Blue Roo Theatre Ensemble!
“A Small Day Out” follows an extraordinary day in the lives of two strangers, Joe and Lesley, when a ‘quiet day’ at the park transforms both their lives forever.
Brisbane Performances: Friday, June 15, and Saturday, June 16.

Meet Tessa!

Introducing … Tessa
Is there anything Tessa can’t do? Tessa is an experienced stage performer, dancer and a TV extra in Channel 9’s My Way segments– Treetops and Blue Roo, filmed in 2023.
Tessa’s smile lights up our rehearsals and performances.
Tessa’s newest challenge will begin in April as a member of the new 2024 Blue Roo ‘ Release Your Inner Clown’ Pathways to Performance Program led by Clint Bolster, international artist and resilience advocate.

Simone De Haas is our Blue Roo Theatre Company Artistic Patron and Organisational Mentor.
Queensland Gold Matilda Award-winning Producer, Artistic Director and Actor., International speaker and organisational coach
Simone’s critically acclaimed, creative capacities move effortlessly between the stage, the digital world and the boardroom.
Whether singing, directing, telling quirky leadership stories or displaying the power of creative improvisation, Simone brings extraordinary insights into the new world that is evolving. Her unique and diverse portfolio of work creates a strong platform for developing transformational leaders. Simone is a highly sought-after inspirational and insightful coach and mentor.
She speaks internationally on Exceptionality™ and Stagecraft & Storytelling. Simone has worked as a Lecturer at Griffith University (Qld Conservatorium) and Queensland University of Technology in Acting for Musical Theatre and Performance Studies, and as Guest Director for the Opera Studio at the University of Southern Queensland.

Blue Roo – South Burnett in the news!
Our very own Cherie featured in the Burnett Today paper in February. Cherie has been instrumental in establishing our South Burnett branch. Our Outreach Program started in Kingaroy on Thursday 15th of February.
What an honour to bring Inclusive Theatre training to the South Burnett Region!


What’s on this Autumn?

2024 Pathways to Performance Theatre Program
Registrations now open!
- The Pathways to Performance Program is open to performers of all abilities and skill levels.
- Join us on Thursday afternoons from12.30 pm to 3.30 pm
- You will develop narrative skills, acting techniques, stage craft and learn in a team setting that is safe, engaging and fun!
- Every performer in the program will help shape public performances under the guidance of some of the best independent artists and Directors in Queensland.
- As you learn, you perform more often throughout the year in different types of public settings.
- Each term you will have the opportunity to perform in theatres and public spaces in professional costumes, telling stories you helped to design.
- You will also have the opportunity to tour – spreading the joy to Queensland schools and regional communities.

- Join us on Thursday mornings from 9 am to 12 noon for “The Art of Clown and Comedy,” a life-changing, unforgettable, laughter-packed journey of essential performance skills brought to you by Blue Roo Theatre Company.
- Clint Bolster is the creative force behind this captivating program, with over 20 years of experience in Clowning, Physical Acting, Mask Theatre, and as a Teaching Artist. Clint has graced stages in Australia and globally, most recently in the 2023 Australian Tour of Slava’s Snow Show (www.slavasnowshow.com.au).
